Lake Country Radio to host political forum
By Nathan Straus News Reporter

KCKL 95.9 FM, Lake Country Radio, will be the site of a political forum Tuesday, February 26. Candidates for elected government positions from constable to state representative will visit the forum to briefly discuss the plans they have for Henderson County and even all of Texas.

The political forum will begin at 5:30 pm.

Tim Howard, KCKL news director, said the forum is less of an actual forum and more a platform for giving each candidate time to share concerns.

"The forum will be a five minute one-on-one with the candidates, " Howard said. "It will be very open to the candidate; we will let them direct the interview for the most part."

Out of the 31 potential candidates running for office in the area 24 or 25 have already reserved a spot for the political forum, Howard said.

The first forum broadcast will be live on February 26. The second broadcast will be just before the March 4 elections on Mon- day, March 3. The March 3 replay will also start at 5:30 pm.

Howard added the goal of the forum is to provide a public service to the people of Henderson County, as well as the surrounding counties.

"We want to let the people know about their candidates," Howard said.

Lake Country Radio has hosted similar forums for the past several years.

"Elections are important to all of us. We're trying to get the word out," Howard said.

The deadline for candidates to reserve a spot is Friday, February 22.

Howard said he is expecting quite a turnout for the forum as far as candidate numbers goes.

"We're about 95% confirmed for the most part. Everyone wants this free window to express their views," Howard claimed.
