Henderson Co. election results

The unofficial March 4 Primary Election results released by Henderson County's County Clerk's office are as follows. The victors are:

President of the United States: Republican John McCain, 52.79 percent with 4,999 votes total. Democrat Hillary Clinton, 63.68 percent with 5,260 votes total.

United States Senator: Republican John Cornyn, 81.11 percent with 6,964 total votes. Democrat Richard J. (Rick) Noriega at 41.88 percent with 2,711.

United States Representative, District 5: Jeb Hensarling, unopposed.

Railroad Commissioner: Republican Michael L. Williams, unopposed, and Democrat Mark Thompson, at 51.22 percent and 3,148 votes.

Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court: Republican Wallace B. Jefferson and Democrat Jim Jordan, both unopposed in their primaries.

Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Place 7: Republican Dale Wainwright, unopposed, and Democrat Sam Houston, with 80.66 percent of the tally and 4,920 votes.

Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Place 8: Republican Phil Johnson, unopposed, and Susan Criss, with 72.6 percent of the votes and 4,379 total.

Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3: Republican Tom Price and Susan Strawn, both unopposed.

Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 4: Republican Paul Womack and Democrat J.R. Molina. Molina was unopposed but Womack won with 63.79 percent of the vote and 4,541 votes.

Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 9: Cathy Cochran, unopposed.

State Representative, District 4: Republican Betty Brown won the battle against Wade Gent with 53.06 percent of the vote and 4,876 votes. Democrat Victor Morales was unopposed.

Chief Justice of the 12th Court of Appeals District: Jim Worthen, unopposed.

District Judge, 3rd Judicial District: Mark A. Calhoon, unopposed.

District Judge, 392nd Judicial District: Carter Tarrance beat Barry E. Bilger with 63.6 percent of the vote and 5,486 votes.

District Attorney, 173rd Judicial District: R. Scott McKee won out over Donna R. Bennett with 61.74 percent of the vote and 5,699 votes in the Republican primary.

County Attorney: Republican Clint Davis performed similarly, beating Republican James Owen 62.54 to 37.46 with 5,521 votes.

Sheriff: Democrat Bill Casey, unopposed. Republican nominee Ray Nutt surpassed his rivals at 46.99 percent and 4,225 votes. Tax Assessor-Collector: Milburn Chaney, unopposed.

County Surveyor, Unexpired Term: Jack L. Ward, unopposed.

County Commissioner, Precinct 1: Joe D. Hall won a tight race against Bud Henry with 51.01 percent and 1,091 votes, a margin of under 50 votes.

County Commissioner, Precinct 3: Republican Ronny Lawrence and Democrat Hank Rogers, both unopposed.

Constable, Precinct 1: Daryl Graham at 52.72 percent and 533 votes.

Constable, Precinct 2: Norman Terry, unopposed.

Constable, Precinct 3: David Grubbs, unopposed.

Constable, Precinct 4: Republican Rick Stewart and Democrat John Floyd, both unopposed.

Constable, Precinct 5: Brad Miers, unopposed.

Constable, Precinct 6: Mike Warren, unopposed.

County Chairman: Republican Don Geddie and Democrat Ray Smith, unopposed.

Precinct Chairman, Precinct 1: Bill Hanstrom defeated James Pollock at 50.6 percent and 169 votes. Pollock had 165 votes.

Ballot Initiative 1: Yes at 97.49 percent. Ballot Initiative 2: Yes at 94.39 percent. Ballot Initiative 3: Yes at 92.25 percent.
