Bear Tracks earns recognition

Current Bear Tracks yearbook editor Eric Orange was the assistant to last year's Bear Tracks Editor Jill Bragdon. "A common Bond in an Uncommon Place" the 2007 editon of Bear Tracks has been recognized by Yearbook Yearbook.
The 2007 Bear Tracks yearbook, "A Common Bond in an Uncommon Place," was recognized for its division page design with emphasis on photography. Jill Bragdon, a Texas A&M freshman, was editor of the award-winning yearbook and her assistant was Eric Orange, a 2008 senior at Brownsboro High School. Bragdon designed the pages featured in Yearbook Yearbook while Orange took the photographs.

"Being featured in Taylor Publishing's Yearbook Yearbook has become a Bear Tracks tradition," Adviser Patsy Lewis said. "We are especially proud of this yearbook because it is head and shoulders above any of our books done in recent years. The design is unique, the organization is different and the photography is exceptional. Jill, Eric and their staff ventured outside the box and utilized a new computer program and they did an excellent job. They are well-deserving of this honor."

Orange, the editor of the 2008 Bear Tracks, won an Award of Excellence for Outstanding Theme Development and Design at the Interscholastic League Press Conference Workshop last June. That award came out of a class of 40 editors. Orange and his assistant Kelsey Crawford also received a special invitation to Taylor Publishing's Intensity Yearbook Workshop last fall.

"Taylor Publishing thought so much of Eric's designs that they made a point to invite us to this very exclusive workshop. Thanks to our principal, Ken Wooten, for seeing the value in the workshop and for letting us go," Lewis said. "We are expecting even more awards for this year's book. These kids always astound me with their creativity, work ethic and technological expertise. When these students leave Brownsboro High School, they are well-prepared for any college level publications program and are assets to the public work force."

The 2008 Bear Tracks is now on sale and orders will be taken until the end of school. There is an ad in this newspaper complete with an order form or one may be picked up from each campus office. The price of $65 will remain the same through the end of the year, however, any student or parent who wants a name stamped on the cover must turn that in by April 1.
