by Linda G. Keeling

Sermon, March 23, "Seven Deadly Sins: Pride, Lust, Anger, Greed, Envy, Gluttony, and ? Scripture, Revelations 2:2-7.

Sunrise service 7am at Lake Palestine First United Methodist Church.

"All Honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again, so that we are now members of God's own family. Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead." I Peter 1:3

Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we as Christians live in a state of hope! Can you imagine living without hope? Unfortunately many people live in a perpetual state of despair. Unhappy with what life has dealt them without energy to change their circumstances. We however have a life full of promise, of love, of happiness. We know as even Job in the Old Testament knew, "I shall see him, not as a stranger, but as a friend! What a glorious hope!" (Job 19:27)

Come and celebrate the joy of Easter Sunday with us. According to our weather forecasters, the day will be only partly cloudy with a high in the seventies, so you may need a light sweater for the Sunrise service at Lake Palestine Methodist Church at 7am. Remember, they are serving breakfast. Then back to our church to watch the children hunt for Easter eggs at 9am. with the Easter Day Service at 10am. Can anyone plan a better day? To worship our Lord by singing his praises while the sun rises over Lake Palestine, to share a meal with friends and family, enjoy children at play, then to finish up with a sermon by Dr. Munch.

The 8am service and the Praise service at 10:30am will not be held this Sunday. So the whole congregation will be in the sanctuary for the 10am service! Won't it be wonderful to have our whole family worshiping together on this special day?

The worship services during Holy Week:

Maundy Thursday worship, 6:30 p.m. March 20

Good Friday worship, 12:00 Noon March 21.

Dr. Munch will be completing his sermon series on the "Seven Deadly Sins" Easter Sunday. Last Sunday the sin discussed was "gluttony." Now that is a touchy subject for a number of us, but we were comforted by the assurance that gluttony was not just overeating, but not sharing in our abundance. We could all use a smaller plate of our riches. Come next Sunday to find out what the 7th deadly sin will be.

Marla Pollard blessed us, last Sunday with a piano and voice solo "Glory of the Lord." Marla is a senior this year and will be going to college soon. Hopefully she is planning to attend a local university. We would miss her talent and charm.

The Angelus Ringers under the direction of Lou Griffin, performed "All Glory, Laud and Honor" with Jake Brooks on the trumpet, while a procession of children laid palm leaves on the altar. What a visual image of Jesus being honored and worshiped by his people, knowing he was to die on the cross, for our sins, within the week?

Happy Anniversary to: Gary and Sandy Dinsmore, Glyn and Ginger Stewart, and Jim and Sharon Moffeit.

Happy Birthday to: Lonny Hagan, Kim Birdwell, Paddock Hill, Ellen Kretzmeier, Chris Martin, Kim Pollard and Glenn Kitson.

Thought for the Week: "If Hope, even with reference to present and infinite things, be an emotion so joyous, if uninspired poetry can sing so sweetly of its delights, what must be the believer's hope, the hope which has God for its object and Heaven its consummation? " By John MacDuff
