Taylor Barnes took to the mound for the Brownsboro Bearettes Junior Varsity team as they played host to the Athens Lady Hornets JV team last Friday in Brownsboro.

Athens reached on back-toback errors to begin the game and never looked back as they defeated the Bearettes 10-2.

In the first inning the Lady Hornets scored four runs on two hits. Brownsboro was held hitless in the bottom half of the innings.

Athens added four more runs in the second inning on six hits and one Brownsboro error. In the bottom half of the second the Bearettes scored their first run of the game.

Allison Palmer led off the bottom half of the inning with a hit before stealing second and third base. Ashleigh Alford drove in Palmer on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Leading 8-1 the Lady Hornets kept attacking as they used two hits to drive in two runs in the top of the third inning.

Trailing 10-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning the Bearettes needed a spark. Palmer led off the inning with a hit to center field. She stole second (pictured left) before being advanced to third on a sacrifice by Alford.

A pass ball allowed Palmer to score the second run of the game for the Bearettes. Down by eight the Bearettes could not overcome the large Hornet lead.

Information from the Bearettes games in the Athens Tournament were not available as of press time Tuesday.

The Bearettes are scheduled to play against Canton on March 25 at 4:30 p.m. in Brownsboro.
