JV Bearettes win Athens Tournament consolation title

Prior to spring break the Junior Varsity Bearettes took part in the Athens JV Tournament.

In pool play the Bearettes defeated Mineola 4-3, Crossroads 5-4 and lost to Huntington 9-1.

Allison Palmer had two hits in the Bearettes pool play opener against Mineola. Hailey Tedford stole three bases in the game.

Palmer picked up the win for the Bearettes as she faced 19 batters allowing just eight hits.

Taylor Barnes elevated the Bearettes to the win over Crossroads as she had two hits including a homerun. She also picked up the win as she faced 19 batters, striking four out and allowing 10 hits.

Ashley Alford and Kayla Winnett each stole two bases against Crossroads.

Round one of bracket play began on Saturday, March 15 as the Bearettes faced off against Mesquite Horn. Horn defeated Brownsboro 14-0.

Brownsboro defeated La Poyner 10-2 in the first game of the consolation bracket. Nine Bearettes had hits in the game.

Courtney Cook, Allison Palmer, Haley Suggs and Candie Pueshcell all had two hits for Brownsboro.

In the consolation final the Bearettes defeated Mineola 6- 3 as Palmer picked up the win.

Brownsboro stole eight bases in the consolation final. Leading the way on the bases was Cook with four stolen bases.

On the season the Bearettes are 5-3-1.
