St. Boniface Catholic On the Third Sunday of Easter, members of St. Boniface learned of the essential truth of our faith. In his homily, Deacon Steve Curry explained that the Kingdom of Christ was established with succession as part of that kingdom. So it was with the Apostles following the Resurrection; Peter assumed his role as the chief Shepherd of the Church. The `cross' nearly destroyed the Apostles ... they were lost, afraid and alone. The Church is the pillar of the Truth. As Catholics we not only follow the scripture, we follow the teachings of the Church. Jesus brought hope back to the Apostles' downcast spirits by explaining the scriptures and noting that the cross was a necessity. How can we be Disciples of Christ? By remaining full of hope despite the way things seem. Be always ready to listen to our Shepherd even when it is hard to hear! Mary Hoffman received a special blessing in honor of her birthday. Members and visitors enjoyed a piece of cake following Mass. Kenneth Luther also celebrated his 92nd birthday but was unable to attend Mass because he was feeling under the weather. God bless you both. We have been experiencing plenty of technical difficulties with our copier as of late! Poor machine gave up the ghost last week while the bulletin was being prepared. There were several errors and believe me each one was pointed out ... several times! So, until we can make other arrangements, please be patient as we make do with what we have to work with. Fr. Jesse will be in Mexico through April 17th, in his absence, Fr. Paul Key will celebrate the Mass with us on Saturday, April 12th at 5:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, April 13th. Also, weekday Masses will not be celebrated. We wish Fr. Jesse a safe trip! Members were reminded of the KCB Fish Fry on Sunday, April 13th from 11-2. There will be Altar Server training on Sunday, April 13th at 12:30 followed by `humongous quantities of pizza' according to Deacon Steve who will conduct the training session. Speaking of Altar Servers, how great of a job did they do today! We are so happy to have several new servers join our `veterans.' Keep up the good work! Ladies of the Altar Society will meet at 6:30 on April 14th in the community room. There are several urgent matters to discuss including election of officers. Please make plans to join us. Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Please keep the sick and suffering in your thoughts and prayers. We remember, too the faithful departed; may they rest in peace. St. Boniface members extend our condolences to the family of Rose Cade. May God bring you comfort at this time of sorrow. Please continue to pray for the men and women of the Armed Services as they serve to keep us safe and free. Have a blessed week! |
