Kappa Pi Chapter reminisced about "Unforgettable Moments and Music of our Past" at the meeting at Lynda McQuaid's home on Thursday, April 3. Lynda McQuaid and Benita Carver had prepared a program about the `40s, `50s and `60s reminding them of special events, famous songs, singers, Broadway productions and movies, and especially the songs that were popular.

Members enjoyed identifying mystery tunes and sang four or five songs from each era. Nostalgia was high as they recalled incidents involving the music that was heard and sung. Display boards about the 20th century were on the table as well as sheet music memorabilia. Some members wore clothing of the `40s, `50s and `60s eras, others brought photos and school yearbooks, and one member brought her wedding "going away" dress.

After the program, members enjoyed "Cracker Jacks," quiche, an angelfood trifle with fruit, nuts, and punch prepared by hostesses Benita Carver, Nancy Rozell, and Lynda McQuaid.

During the business meet- ing, Laura Schmidt's devotional touched on the remembrance of Gene Kelley's performance in "Singing in the Rain." She said, "It's okay to be frustrated at life's challenges. But don't give in to cloudy depression; don a raincoat and tap shoes; put on a happy expression and smile." As "Annie Rooney" later sang, "The sun will come out tomorrow."

Barbara Faye Beard thanked the chapter for the scholarship given to her when she attended the workshop by Tony Crouch which was truly inspiring; she also reminded members of the Smith County Retired Teachers' meeting next Tuesday. Rita Currington, Area I Coordinator from Athens, shared plans for a summer Area workshop in August. A scavenger hunt in our purses raised money for the new Alpha State Headquarters in Dallas. Door prizes were won by Rita Currington, Rosella Webb, Lynda McQuaid, and Barbara Faye Beard. The monthly project was school supplies brought for Chandler Elementary School.
