MY JOB The alarm goes off at five AM, so I get out of bed. For ten hours I will work today to keep my family fed. My wife is up to see me off with a kiss; we say goodbye.

I never doubt her love for me, I see it in her eyes.

The drive takes forty minutes; it's the time that I reflect

On all that God has given me, and his blessings I collect.

Our home, our cars, our way of life, as modest as they may be,

I don't ever want to take for granted the things He's done for me.

My kids are already home from school when I walk in the door.

I provide for them the best I can,

but they are always wanting more.

As a father I accept this life, though the rewards seem very few;

It's because I love my family, that I do the things I do.

When I say "I am a Christian"

When I say "I am a Christian," I'm not shouting "I am saved."

I'm whispering "I got lost, that's why I chose this way."

When I say "I'm a Christian," I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble, and need someone to be my guide.

When I say "I'm a Christian," I'm not trying to be strong,

I'm professing that I'm weak, and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say "I'm a Christian," I'm not bragging of success,

I'm admitting that I have failed and cannot repay my debt.

When I say "I'm a Christian," I'm not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are too visible, but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say "I'm a Christian," I still feel the sting of pain,

I have my share of heartaches, which is why I seek His name.

When I say "I'm a Christian," I do not wish to judge, I have no authority, I only know I'm loved.
