Union Hill Baptist
by Mickie Bigbie

High Attendance Sunday was a blessed day. Sunday school classes competed to see which one could have the greatest increase in attendance, percentage wise, and the winners were: Rodney Boyd's adult class with Steve Morris' coming in second. Likewise the 1st and 2nd grade class and the 9th thru 12th grade class showed a nice increase in attendance as well. Total in Sunday school was 154. What a wonderful way to start a Sunday. If you don't attend Sunday school, let me invite you now. We have some wonderful teachers at Union Hill and I'm sure you can find the class that is just right for you.

We didn't need those folding chairs we talked about in the morning service, but praise the Lord, folks had to sit much closer together! So many times this happens, the Sunday school lesson was about unity, not only in the church but in the home and in the marriage too. Brother Bill's message, taken from Genesis 2:17-25 and Ephesians 5:22-33 was along the same lines. Great message for a great day. We appreciate all of the visitors that we had Sunday. I hope you received a blessing from hearing Brother Bill's preaching of God's word. We were talking on the way home from church about how blessed we are at Union Hill. We have a warm, loving church family and the Lord has provided us with a marvelous pastor who gives us the truth of God's word always ... whether it hurts or not! No tip-toeing around and no "prettying it up," he tells it like it is. We thank God for him. If you've been to Union Hill, you know what I'm talking about. If not, come see for yourself. We welcome you at any service.

Don't forget, we have Prayer Meeting on Wednesday evening at 7:00 and Family Fellowship, same time, on the last Wednesday evening of the month. On that particular Wednesday evening, you bring your favorite dish and enjoy a wonderful Christian fellowship with the family.

Remember our "Adult Night Out" this Saturday evening, April 19th. We'll be going to the Athens Bowling Center to bowl or play indoor miniature golf. The cost is only $7.00 per person and it's a great opportunity for the adults to fellowship together and join in some friendly competition. Get your name on the sign-sheet or check in with Brother Danny. We'll meet at the church at 6:00 p.m. and head to Athens and play from 7:00 until 9:00.

The youth of Union Hill have some exciting activities planned. After the morning service Sunday, there will be a picnic at Tyler State Park. Coming up on April 26th, it's a fun trip to Six Flags. These activities also include checking in with Brother Danny.

Ladies, mark your calendar on Thursday, May 8th for the Ladies of UHBC Dinner and Fellowship. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Are you filling up your cans for the Baptist Children's Home? Hope so! We'll let you know when you must turn them in.

I close now with this personal note for you. Even though we had a tremendous day last Sunday, we missed you.
