Ann Hall vies for council re-election
By Nathan Straus News Reporter

Ann Hall
Ann Hall is a council member who has served on the Chandler City Council since 2000. An incumbent in the May 10 council elections, her position is now up for grabs.

Hall said she first joined the council around eight years ago because she had heard grumblings around town about things in City Hall.

"I went to council meetings and saw what was going on," Hall said. "I thought it'd be an opportunity to serve the community."

Hall said her experiences with the council have been positive, and the city, through the council, has accomplished a great deal.

"We've really moved the community for- ward the last three or four years," Hall said. "Now we need to be ready for Tyler'expansion," Hall said. "We're trying to improve the infrastructure to prepare."

Hall said her name is on the ballot for the May 10 elections for much the same reason it was on the ballot eight years ago.

"There's still a lot work to do," Hall said. Hall also said some don'want Chandler to grow beyond its small town atmosphere, but noted the decision may well be in Tyler's hands, and not in Chandler's.

"I don't think we have that choice," Hall said of the decision regarding whether or not Chandler should grow.

While she can't name one particular plan for preparing Chandler for Tyler's upcoming expansion projects, Hall did say the council needs to work on a master plan.

"We're working on the streets, an expansion to the sewer system and improvements on sewer plants so it will be ready for more growth," Hall said.

Ann Hall also said she would like to add more in the way of parks so children in the area would have more to do.

It is important, Hall said, for Chandler to be ready when the expansions hit the area. Cities already affected by expansions that had not prepared beforehand found their infrastructure stretched to breaking, Hall added.

Hall has lived in Chandler for 12 years, having lived in East Texas for around 25.

"It's a great community with a volunteer spirit," Hall said. "It's easy to get involved. "

Ann is married to Mark Hall, an attorney in Chandler. They have three children.
