Daniell enters the council elections
By Nathan Straus News Reporter

Don Daniell
Don Daniell, a retired welder, has thrown his lot in with the other five running for the three open spots on the Chandler City Council.

"I believe I would be a good representative for the citizens of Chandler," Daniell said.

Don Daniell has lived in Chandler for around 40 years, and he said he has a sincere interest in the city of Chandler and the best interest of its citizens in mind.

"I think there's some things that need changing," Daniell said. "There are some things I can understand why they did it, like this burn ordinance; but I just don't care for it," Daniell said of the council's activities.

Daniell added his goal would be to serve the citizens of Chandler. He said he knows the city needs to be considered, but without the citizens there would be no city of Chandler.

"Chandler's always been a small town. Everyone knows everyone," Daniell said. "It's drastically changing."

The retired welder said he didn't see anything directly wrong with the council's performance, only the decisions the council makes, such as the city's decision to contract with Sanitation Solutions for its trash-related needs.

"I feel like it knocked a lot of people out of a job in the city area," Daniell said.

Daniell said if he were elected he would try to serve the people of Chandler as best he could.

"If they don't like what the City Council comes up with and they let me know about it, I will do my best to see that something is done about it," Daniell said.

Don is married to Barbara Daniell. They have been married 53 years and have two daughters and one son.

Don Daniell said as a welder he always strived for the best interest and service for his customers.

"Even though I am now retired I still base my everyday life on the same honesty and integrity as I did in my business, " Daniell said.

He added he would deliver this same honesty, integrity and service as a council member.

Daniell filed his application to be a candidate by way of writing in.
