Political forum set for April 22 The upcoming political forum is right around the corner. On Tuesday, April 22, the six candidates for the three open positions in the Chandler City Council will meet in the Chandler Community Center at 6:30 pm to discuss the latest issues facing the city. At this forum, sponsored by Keep Chandler Beautiful, the candidates will answer questions from the citizens of Chandler about how each candidate would operate as a member of the council. Questions will be screened by a nonpartisan committee, and each can- didate will have time to respond to a question; not just the first recipient. Rick Ford, KCB president, said he expects the forum to last until around 9 pm, with the first 30 minutes being a meet and greet period. "The forum will run later if everyone's getting into it," Ford said. If time permits, towards the end candidates may be allowed to ask each other questions. No question may be regarding pending litigation involving the city. The candidates are incumbents Gene Giger and Ann Hall, and write-in candidates Dick Jarrett, Don Daniell, Melissa Lehman and Bobby Lankford. The forum will run just before the city's early voting period begins on April 28. Early voting will run till May 6. Election Day is May 10. Ford said he expects the Chandler Community Center to be packed the night of the 22nd. Citizens may send questions for the candidates either by mailing Keep Chandler Beautiful at P.O. Box 1931, Chandler, TX, 75758, or by turning in a question at least 15 minutes before the questioning period begins. |
