Final softball game to be played Friday
The Bearettes will travel to Bullard with first pitch scheduled for 6pm. Bullard entered the week undefeated in District 14-3A play. Brownsboro looks to keep the Lady Panthers from finishing district with a perfect record. Last Tuesday the Bearettes traveled to Van and lost to the Lady Vandals 3-0. Brownsboro kept Van close allowing one run in the third and two in the sixth. At the plate the Bearettes could not get the bats going. Van pitcher Shelby Harris kept the Bearette hitters hitless in seven innings of action. Krystin Groothuis was the Bearettes starting pitcher. She allowed nine hits while striking out five batters and walking three. On Friday the Bearettes battled back and forth with Chapel Hill. The Lady Bulldogs won the game 9-7. Playing in her last home game Brownsboro senior Stefani Vause was 3-4 and scored two runs. Lacey Pettit, Groothuis, Randi Smith and Carley Smith each had two hits in the game. Groothuis and Randi Smith each had a double. Dannielle Bynum and Malea Sims each had one hit against Chapel Hill. Sims scored one run. Pitching for the Bearettes was Groothuis. She went seven innings allowing 13 hits, six walks and seven earned runs. She struck out six batters.
On Tuesday the Bearettes traveled to Canton after press time. Brownsboro had a season record of 7-16 entering the game against Canton. |
