Flatwood Assembly of Edom celebrates 81st Homecoming this Sunday Flatwood Assembly of God of Edom/Ben Wheeler, will celebrate the 81st homecoming of the church this Sunday, May 4th. The church is located two miles West of Edom on FM 279. Morning services will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Singing Bragg Family of Brownsboro will be singing, along with the Flatwood choir and other local singers. The Singing Braggs have been touring internationally for more than twenty-four years. The motto of this family is, "Bragg'n About Jesus" through music. Theirs is a totally live band supplying a fresh genre of Gospel Music for the whole family. It has been said that the Singing Bragg Family has the sound of Nashville, the entertainment of Branson, and talent as big as Texas. There will be a covered dish lunch following the morning service and an afternoon service of more music and testimonies. Flatwood Church had its beginnings in 1916 in cottage prayer meetings. It was officially set in order with the Assemblies of God in 1927. Mike and Marion Kirkpatrick have served as senior pastors of Flatwood since 1981.
