Women's Faith Conference a success
by Sherry Parker

Bright, smiling faces of beautiful women gathered early in the morning for breakfast, waiting with anticipation for the conference to begin. The Lord blessed the day with over 115 ladies in attendance for the first Women's Conference held at Rock Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, April 26. Joining RHBC, were ladies from various churches and denominations in the area.

"We were honored they came. What a tribute to our community to come together under one roof and be united as sisters in Christ," stated Sherry Parker.

Judy Foster said, "I really enjoyed the day of fellowship with all the ladies. It seemed to be well organized and everything ran smoothly all day. The speakers all did a wonderful job. I felt joyful and blessed after the day was done."

The speakers, Patricia Mallory, Janet Berry and Sandra Weakley were encouraging, poignant and at times, hysterically funny. They challenged the ladies to assess their faith and ask whether their faith produced the good works the Lord would have us to do. May we never stop the evaluation process to stay in alignment with the will of the Father, of which has no age barrier and should not matter whether you're a mature Christian or new. We are all in need of encouragement in our walk of faith.

The ladies also enjoyed dramatic presentations by Diane Morris and musical presentations by Paula McDonald and Kim Hardy; Kathleen Young and Alisa Johnson; Tess and Danielle Bynum; Stephanie Ballard and Sherry Parker. Others who assisted were Judy Weems, Shirley Nugent (our technicians) and Lorraine Insco (pianist). Coordinators for the event were Stephanie Ballard, Sharon Brogdon and Kathy Perkins, the current Women's Ministry leaders at RHBC.

A fun event for the day was a table decorating contest. The ladies were encouraged to be creative and use any designs and/or ideas that would instill a happy, warm atmosphere. The competition was intense, but all in good fun! To say it was `great' would be an understatement. The room was beautiful and festive. So, well done, ladies! The soup brought by volunteers was also stupendous. A special thank you goes to Alisa Johnson and Kathleen Young for their hard work in making the dining arrangements and food preparations. A super thank you goes out to James Perkins, Leroy Chambers and Mark Passons, who assisted before, during and after the luncheon. Great job, guys! You sure were brave to take on all that estrogen held up in one room. God bless!

The `Faith Through the Generations' Conference was more than just a group of ladies gathering together under one roof. It was a beautiful day filled with prayer, singing, praising the Lord and fellowshipping with one another, but most importantly, feeding the soul.

Marion Epperson said, "I really enjoyed the day and went away refreshed."

"God really blessed each and everyone who attended the conference. I am looking forward to doing it again! This could not have been done without the team effort of so many. Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation to each of them for making it such a glorious day," declared Stephanie Ballard.

Whispers were heard in the halls of the church as the ladies made their way to leave ... "perhaps we should do this again next year" ... perhaps we shall, God willing! Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with Your presence. May You continue to move in a profound way in our community.
