Elections this Saturday Early voting concluded Tuesday and now Election Day looms over area residents. To be decided this Saturday, May 10, are the races for three seats on the Chandler City Council and two positions on the Brownsboro Independent School District Board of Trustees. Also to be decided is whether or not a Brownsboro Emergency Ser- vices District is put into effect. For the Chandler elections, incumbent candidates Gene Giger and Ann Hall are fighting to keep their seats against write-in candidates Don Daniell, Dick Jarrett and Melissa Lehman. Though Bobby Lankford's name is on the Chandler City Council ballot, he is ineligible to serve as councilmember. Coy Ellis, outgoing councilmember, left an open position on the council for a total of three open positions. Voting for the council positions will take place in the Chandler Community Center. As for the BISD elections, there are two positions up for grabs on the board. Candidates are Bobby Lankford, Ricky Wyatt and Becky Grantham. Lankford and Grantham are incumbents. On Election Day the polling places for the BISD election will be the Chandler Community Center, Moore Station Water Supply Corp. and the Brownsboro Junior High School cafeteria. Voting for the ESD will take place at the Brownsboro Community Center and City Hall. All voting will take place from 7 am to 7 pm. Murchison and Brownsboro canceled their city council elections. Murchison Independent School District's elections were also canceled. The incumbent candidates for Murchison City Council are Megan Harville and Lance West. Incumbents for the Brownsboro City Council are Glen Vest, Mary Carnahan and Doug Shaffer. MISD's candidates are Shiree Head, Gerald Wood and Rusty Abney. |
