My Favorite Book comes to Chandler Young Chandler Elementary School and Chandler Intermediate School students will soon have a new favorite book. It is called My Favorite Book, and it is geared toward first grade through 10-year-old children. Natalie Smith, a student support services employee at CES, said the Ambassador Company, which produces these books, sends them to various schools every year. "We got a letter with the book and it says to choose three students per classroom to give the books to," Smith said. CES received 48 books to give to its students, Smith said. The biggest benefactors of the books will be students who may not have books of their own at home. A news release from the Ambassador Company stated My Favorite Book is an illustrated volume detailing moral values. The books contain a parental guide for explaining the values in the books along with suggestions for family discussions. The book is dedicated to the students' teachers. "We are especially grateful to the many dedicated elementary grade teachers who have consulted with us on the writing and design of this volume as well as to the members of the American School Counselor Association," the book stated in the opening dedication. The book is meant for children in their first years of reading. Local sponsors of the My Favorite Book program are: Copeland Chandler Drug, Sonic Drive-In Chandler and Y's Hometown Foods. |
