Marvin "Pete" Jones

Marvin "Pete" Jones, loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2008, at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was born September 20, 1938, in Slick, Oklahoma.

Marvin lived in Chandler, Texas, for the past 20 years. He loved life and spending time with his family and friends, cooking out, taking the barge out on the lake with his kids and grandkids, riding his motorcycle and tractor, and playing music. He was a member of Marvin and the Messengers 4 Band for a number of years.

Marvin worked for Melton Truck Lines for over 20 years and had served as police officer in Las Vegas, Nevada, and as constable in Rice, Texas. He was a Master Mason in Bardwell Masonic Lodge No. 1054. He never met a stranger, had a magnetic personality and always had a smile on his face. He had a strong personal relationship with God through his Bible reading and music.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Emma Jones; brothers, Billy Jones and Archie Jones, Jr.; and sister, Voleta Beasley. He is survived by his loving wife, friend and soulmate of 17 years, Linda Jane Jones; daughters, Ann Marie Riley and husband Jimmy of Arkansas, Kristilynn Simington and husband Rodney Mach of Ennis, Texas, and Toni Childs of Hawaii; sons, Ted Bard of Palmdale, California, Wayne Jones and Brian Jones, both of Huntington Beach, California, and Rodney Simington and wife Michelle of Ramstein AB, Germany; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home in Chandler, Texas. Burial followed in Concord Cemetery in Chandler.

Pallbearers included Marty Dumas, Randy Dumas, Ron Flatt, Jr., Jimmy Wayne Griffith, Bill McMullen and Bob Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Boone, Bill Covington, Glen Ford, Steven Giles, Bob Proudfit, Mack Smith, John Smith, Ray Tillman and Johnnie Trogden.
