Psalmist School of Music to celebrate 25 years of music Psalmist School of Music, Tyler, will celebrate 25 years of private music education in East Texas with its annual Summer Youth Recital on Monday evening, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held in the main auditorium of Tyler Metro Church, located at 14196 Hwy 110 South, between Tyler and Whitehouse. Following the recital, cake and punch will be served to everyone attending in celebration of this milestone anniversary. In the summer of 1983, Psalmist School of Music opened its doors for students in their facility located in the Red Barn Square Mall on South Broadway in Tyler. The school later moved to Barbee Road near Whitehouse for 14 years, and is currently located at 2221 WSW Loop 323 in Tyler. Founders of the school are the late Jerry Baker and his wife, Rebecca, who continues to own and operate the school. Students will perform various types of music ranging from classical and jazz to contemporary Christian and pop, with a special theme being Broadway music this year. Various instruments played will include piano, guitar, clarinet, violin, cello, and bass, as well as vocal solos. Several former students will be back to perform, along with Rebecca Baker at the concert grand piano, and Jason LeCount, virtuoso guitarist and instructor at the school. The following students are also slated to perform that evening: Daniel Armstrong, Amanda Beall, Karson Blow, Matthew Brown, Channah Clayton, Taylor Ellis, Taylor Florendo, Jessica Flores, Grant Heimbaugh, Amanda Henson, Tessa Hutchins, Liz Isabell, T.J. Johnson, Stephen Lampton, Tre McCullough, Joe McGlaun, Marissa Merrill, Kevin Miller, Suzanne Mills, Antonio Moraes, Lavinia Morse, Christa Orr, Meagan Orr, Jillian Pagaduan, Diana Pemberton, Jamie Pirtle, Cherish Prater, Emily Putman, Catherine Rainey, Hunter Regian, Ann Robson, Morgan Rosamond, Jake Smith, Chey- enne Spell, Alex Turner, Gabriella Volberding, Nicholas Volberding, Jacob Waggoner, Madison Walker, Rebekah Wolven and Stevie Ybarra. The public is cordially invited to attend this evening of entertainment and celebration. There is no admission charge. |
