Brownsboro police officers were honored Saturday with the presentation of an American flag and a Texas flag. The flags were given to the department to honor the dedication of the officers there.

The American flag was flown over the United States Capitol at the request of Jeb Hensarling, Texas congressman, to honor the Brownsboro police department.

The Texas flag was presented to the department by district senator Kevin Eltife, and was flown over the State Capitol in Austin on March 17.

With the flags came certificates, and the officers were all there to receive them Saturday, June 28.

Ron Shields, Brownsboro police chief, said he was glad the department received this honor, and added he has a plan for the flags.

"We're going to get a display deal and hang the flags in the chamber where they have the council meetings," Shields said. "I feel that would be most appropriate."
