The Veteran Who Served

Quiet in his solitude at his Post Home. You pass him by without a word; He is dreaming of the voices heard. Such old ones we pass by, To approach him we do not try. But remember this if you will There'll come a time when he'll be still. Then you'll wonder why you let it go And did not stop to say Hello. For we all get old in the end; That's when we have need of a friend. His thoughts are far in the past Of those he'll see again at last. But he's one of us and a comrade still, So say Hello to him if you will. It's not a lot to have to do; He'll give a smile and you will too. He may not talk but he will smile; You'll know you've helped for a little while. The days grow short for such as him, Even as his sight is growing dim. So say Hello to one grown old, Whose heart still is Brave and Bold. For in times gone past he was such as you, With life ahead and future still to do. For he's the Veteran of his time, He's our Old Timer, One of a Kind. So say Hello and shake his hand, For he's a member of this band. The Vet who served overseas, Who served the cause same as you and me. Our roster dwindles with passing years. Soon these Old Timers won't be here; You'll miss them and then you'll see, For then the Old Timers will be You and Me. Submitted by Otis Rainwater

LOVING YOU

I used to wonder why You wanted me to love you so completely. I knew you had no human vanity, Or need for reassurance. The love I had to offer must have seemed so small, Just one more gift among so many. However, as I've grown older, I came upon the truth. By loving you, We open ourselves to being loved. Now as I give my love to you with all my heart, I see you as a God of awe and majesty. by Katrina Edwards

From the Bible:

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting; and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord. - Psalm 106:48
