Brooking / Smiley Wedding
      Kayla Leigh Brooking and John Bailey Smiley, both of Chandler, were united in marriage Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Villa di Felicita in Tyler. Scott Griffith of Murchison officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Millard and Sherry Brooking of Chandler. She is a graduate of Brownsboro High School and Stephen F. Austin State University.

Chandler Chatter
      In Pre-K we are learning about arctic animals and all about snow. We have been waddling around like a penguin with a paper egg on our feet, and we have found it is hard to be a penguin and get anywhere very fast. If you try it, remember you have no hands! It's hard in Chandler, Texas' climate to predict an activity revolving around real snow, so we just tried one out.

Cold frames
      With very little effort, a gardener can add 10 to 15 days to the vegetable growing season. Planting cold susceptible crops early and protecting them from late cold snaps using hot caps, jars, plastic jugs, cardboard boxes or plastic coverings will help extend the gardening season somewhat. But perhaps the best method is to use a cold frame.
