Fairfield boys, girls defeat Brownsboro
      The Bears and the Bearettes posted defeats in Fairfield on Jan. 30th, with the boys losing by 18 and the girls by 15. It was a case of opposites for the two teams. The Bears saw the second and third quarters put them in a hole, while the Bearettes fell prey to first and fourth quarter blues.

Just the newest guy at the paper, watching sports
      I probably won't be writing a column on a weekly basis . but since I'm the new guy in town, I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm an East Texas guy, born in Navarro County. I'm 48-yearsold and a widower, having lost my wife three years ago.

BJH squads split with opponents
      Both Brownsboro ISD junior high B squads posted wins Thursday, Jan. 29, in games as they hosted the Crockett Bulldogs and Athens Christian Academy. Both of the A squads were defeated in action held the same day. The eighth grade Brownsboro B squad earned a 20-point win, 33-13 over Crockett.

Powerlifting event attracts competitors
      Two Brownsboro boys athletes finished in the Top 2, while three girls scored in the Top 4, during weight class competition at the Brownsboro Invitational powerlifting meet held Saturday, Jan. 24th. Michael House took first place in the 123-pound weight class, with a total Schwartz weightof 663.12 pounds.
