Ryan Michael Wilcox Ryan Michael Wilcox Officer Ryan Michael Wilcox was arrested January 26 for alleged involvement in a breakin and assault outside Brownsboro city limits.

Wilcox, 33, was booked into the Henderson County Jail that afternoon, but later released following a $2,500 bond.

The investigating officer on this case is a Texas Ranger.

This is because the alleged perpetrator is a police officer. Ranger Trace McDonald is in charge of the investiga- tion.

McDonald said, "This wasn't a theft situation."

He added Wilcox is accused of entering a home without consent and committing an assault.

While he couldn't reveal either the location of the break-in or the identity of the victim, or even what injuries were sustained, McDonald said the break-in did occur outside of any city limits.

The county Sheriff's Department received the call Monday night/ Sunday morning from a woman about the break-in and assault. McDonald said the complaint was that Wilcox entered the home at about 2:30am Sunday morning.

The Texas Penal Code states a person commits a burglary if the person enters a location not open to the public and intends to commit an assault, theft or felony. Thus, Wilcox would have committed a burglary even if he never intended to take anything from the home.

McDonald said Michael Teal, Henderson County Sheriff 's Department Investigator, had no trouble arresting Wilcox.

"Ryan Wilcox was arrested without incident, " McDonald said.

Chandler Police Chief Ron Reeves was unavailable for comment due to being out of the office sick.

McDonald said there's no word on how long the investigation is expected to last, and a motive hasn't been established.
