Services for Ruth Virginia Davis, a resident of Dallas for the past two years, were held Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating.

Burial was in Edom Cemetery, Edom, Texas. She peacefully passed away on January 25, 2009, in Dallas after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Edom to Toxie Thomas and Gladys Morris Saylors. She and Claude Joseph Davis, her husband of 35 years, lived in Shreveport and raised three daughters. They were faithful

members of Queensborough Baptist Church in Shreveport. Subsequent to living in Shreveport, she lived in Tyler for over 20 years.

Mrs. Davis loved to cook for her family and to work in her garden. Other hobbies included fishing, bowling, shopping and reading.

Virginia, as she was called, was preceded in death by her father, Toxie Thomas Saylors, and brother, Jerry Saylors.

She is survived by her mother, Gladys Morris Saylors, who currently resides in Dallas; and by her daughters, Claudia Davis of Baton Rouge, La., Cindy Hall of Allen, and Melinda McGee of Dallas. She is also survived by five grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jon Davis Pruett, Mark Thomas Hall, Matthew Joseph Hall, Walter Morris Jr., and Bill Giles.
