On Wednesday, February 4, 2009, Henderson County Deputy Kevin Adair conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Gun Barrel City, Texas. During the traffic stop Michael Jeremy Washburn, 28, YOA, ran from the vehicle evading arrest or detention. Adair requested assistance and received help from Henderson County Sheriff's office, Gun Barrel City Police Department, Eustace Police Department and Mabank Police Department.

A short time later, Washburn was located in a wooded area by Henderson County Drug Enforcement Investigator Kenneth Collard. As Collard approached Washburn, he ran on foot and was apprehended a short distance later near the Tamarack subdivision.

Washburn was arrested for evading arrest or detention and for an outstanding warrant for arson while manufacturing or attempting to manufacture controlled substance issued by Justice of the Peace No.1 Henry Ashford. This warrant was a result from an active investigation in Oak Harbor subdivision from January 9, 2009 in which Henderson County Drug Enforcement Investigators responded to a house fire believed to be caused by a methamphetamine lab. This investigation is ongoing and could lead to further arrests.

Alicia Johns, 24, YOA, a passenger in the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance pg1 <1 gram. Alicia Johns had just been released from Henderson County Justice Center less than twenty-four hours earlier for two counts of abandon/ endangering a child.

Assisting agency/officers were, Henderson County Sheriff's Department; Gun Barrel City Police Department; Henderson County Drug Enforcement Unit; Eustace Police Department; and Mabank Police Department.
