Bowman garners TJ CAC honor

Shedera Bowman Shedera Bowman Shedera Bowman - a 2006 Brownsboro High School graduate and a sophomore at McClennan County College - has been named the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference "Newcomer of the Year."

It was the second consecutive year the MCC Highlassies have had a player earn that honor.

Bowman also was named first-team all conference.

Nicole Walton won the award and first team-all conference honors last year for MCC.

A pair of freshmen, former Midway standout Macy Wishmeier and former Belton standout Gabby Guzman, were second-team choices for the Highlassies.

MCC finished 16-14 and 10-6 in conference play for the year, but missed the Region V tournament by one game, despite finishing the season on a six-game winning streak.

According to the MCC Web site, Bowman averaged 17 points, 12 assists and six rebounds a game while playing for the Brownsboro Bearettes.
