The Texas Xtreme football squad was to have played the Dallas Chargers, but that March 21st game was cancelled due to poor field conditions. The Charger- Xtreme game has been rescheduled for Carrollton during the bye week of April 11. The Xtreme will host the Texarkana Warriors on Saturday, March 21. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Bruce Field in Athens.

The Texas Xtreme ran their season record to 2-0 after a dominating, 33-0 win over the Kaufman County Colt 45's.

The semi-pro football game was held Saturday, March 7th at Bruce Field in Athens.

The Xtreme overcame a slow start that still saw the team post a 7-0 lead at halftime. Starting quarterback Marcus Bowman connected on a 38-yard pass to Mike Jones and kicker Angel Nava add the point-aftertouchdown.

In the second half, Jamon Edwards - appearing in his first game for the Xtreme - scored two touchdowns on runs of 14 and three yards.

Reserve quarterback Xavier Pruitt - also in his first action of the year for the Xtreme - hit Zack Newman for an 8-yard touchdown pass and catch.

Nava connected on all three of his second half PAT attempts and added a team record 51-yard field goal during the final half.

Kerry Yarbrough sacked the Colt 45 quarterback for a safety to provide the final margin of victory.

Extreme owners and coaches Larry Anding and Gary Craig were pleased with the team's performance again this week, according to a presse release issued by the team, and said in that release they feel they have the league's best kicker in Nava.

Nava is a former Athens High School and Trinity Valley Community College kicker.

Bowman and Pruitt combined to complete 4-of-9 passes for 72 yards and the two scores during the game.

It was the ground game that powered the Xtreme to victory, as the team totaled 283 yards on 29 carries as the team's offense recorded 355 yards on offense.

Leading Xtreme rushers were: Edwards with 97 yards on nine carries; Boo Beechum (first game) with 72 yards on five carries; Brandon Thompson with 36 yards on five carries; and Bowman with 42 yards on three carries.

Defensively, the Xtreme continued strong play, holding the Colt 45's to only 100 yards of total offense.

Kaufman County completed 4-of-16 passes for 27 yards and netted 83 yards on the ground on 22 carries.

The Xtreme's Nico Adams added three interceptions to bring his season total to five picks in the last two games.
