Services for Mrs. Viola Mae "Sissy" "Kit" Jones Rowan were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at Hilliard Funeral Home, with Rev. David McNary officiating, and soloist, Warren Tidmore. Burial was in Haven of Memories Cemetery, Canton, under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.

Mrs. Rowan passed away at the age of 76 on March 20, 2009 in Tyler.

Viola Mae Jones Rowan was born October 17, 1932 in Gatesville, Texas (Correl County) to the late Claude B. Jones and Bessie Mae Brown Jones. She had been a resident of Henderson County for 39 years, formerly living in Tyler. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd "Cliff" Rowan, and sister, Rosa Nadine Wansley.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Lloyd B. Rowan of Brownsboro; two daughters, Cindy Ballard and husband Danny of Brownsboro, and Belinda G. Goode of Van; three grandchildren, Ceresa Ballard, Maranda Goode and Brittany Goode; nephew, Dennis Wofford; three nieces, Judy Watkins, Leaann Breen and Dana Favrot; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Rowan, Kevin Rowan, Cary Rowan, Casey Rowan, Timothy Land and Jeff Davis.
