(Editor's Note: While going through some old files we came across the following New Year Resolutions by Parker Owen (3rd grade) for the year 2007. We thought you might enjoy reading what this young man wished to change.)
My resolutions for the year 2007:
1. My sister's attitude!
2. I would like to change fields in baseball.
3. I would like to change the seat of my bycicle.
4. I would like to change my diet.
5. I would like to change my military camp.
6. Sents of smell in sister's bathroom.
7.Cousins in North Carolina move closer to me.
8. I would like to change the payments on my monthly bills.
9. I would like to higher my allowance to $5 every two weeks to help with my bills.
10. I want all wars to end. 11. I want to be a better Christian.

MY FRIENDS WHO WERE PRESIDENTS
George Washington is known as the Father of our Nation.
He fought the Brits although some were his relations.
He crossed the Delaware under the worst of conditions.
Beat the Brits while suffering from cold and mal-nutrition.
They say that Abe Lincoln was born in a log cabin. His stature and rough image would start you laughin'. But he turned out to be one of the best of all. Freeing the slaves seemed to become his call.
Theodore Roosevelt was one of the Rough Riders. He not only led but was one of the fighters. He led his troops up Bunker Hill;
Took no prisoners - it was a fight to kill.
Herbert Hoover promised to put a chicken in every pot.
That didn't happen, but squirrels and rabbits helped a lot.
During the Great Depression, this country was in a mess.
For all the good that great presidents do, he did less.
Franklin D. Roosevelt took over a nation in turmoil. Foreign troops were about to invade our soil.
Helped heal a great nation and before he was through,
Defeated the Germans and Japs and we won World War II.
Harry Truman had a sign on his desk: "The Buck Stops Here."
Congress always gave him a hard time but he didn't care.
He ended the war in Japan by dropping the atomic bomb.
Without that, we'd have lost thousands before we won.
"Ask not what your country can do for you," Kennedy said.
Two years later, by an assassin's bullet, he was dead.
A coward, Oswald, shot him and he was in a Dallas jail.
Jack Ruby killed Oswald before he could make bail.
I'd be amiss if I didn't mention a guy named Bill Clinton.
Some of the people say he did a good job; most say he didn't.
Embarrassed the oval office; it will never be the same. Doing things un-presidential; Lawensky was her name.
I've left out some good ones; Reagan comes to mind.
When it came to winning folks over, he was one of a kind.
In your opinion, "Who's the best we've ever had?"
History will dictate that, `cause some were good, some bad.
