JV Bearettes fall to Palestine

PALESTINE - The Brownsboro junior varsity Bearettes tried, but couldn't overcome an 8- run first inning by the Palestine Lady Wildcats.

Brownsboro opened up with first at-bat for the game, held in Palestine, and scored two runs in the first inning to jump on top.

Then came the bottom of the first and the eight Palestine runs.

In the top of the second inning, the Bearettes responded well. They scored four runs in the inning to cut the 8-2 deficit down to 8-6.

But Palestine added two in the bottom half of the inning to expand the lead back to four runs. They then added single runs in the third and fourth inning and posted a final score of 12-6.

For the Bearettes, Taylor McIntyre pitched one inning, giving up two hits and striking out one batter. Jamie Murphy went three innings, striking out four and giving up seven hits.

Logan Gaughan had three hits, including a triple. Jacalyn Taylor added three singles for the Bearettes.

Hayle Surley and Jamie Murphy each had two singles and Ashleigh Alford hit a double.
