OUR DAILY GOSPEL

We are writing a gospel, a chapter each day

By deeds that we do and words that we say.

People read what we write, whether faithless or true ...

So what is the gospel according to you?

Please, Lord, use me in your ways from above, Where there is hatred, let me show love, Where there is darkness, let me show light, Where there is sadness, fill me with delight, Where there is despair, let me show hope, When there is doubt, fill me with faith to cope.

My Lord and Savior, speak to my soul, Teach me not to be consoled but to console, Not only love me but let me show love, Let me show the way is to look above.

Let me show that in giving is when we receive,

Let me tell that in dying is eternal life if we only believe.

Breathe your Holy Breath on me, Dear God, Till I am wholly thine, Let all this worldly part in me, Glow with the spirit of you so divine.

HELLO, GOD

Hello, God, this is me back again to pray, you see. I know it's been a little while, but I need your help to make me smile. Christmas Eve is coming up and I asked Santa for a brand new pup. But if it's okay, alright with you, I'd like to trade for something new. It doesn't have to have a bow or Christmas wrapping from head to toe. As far as I care, use a paper sack. Please, God bring my daddy back. Now if it's the trade you're worried about, I'll pitch in Teddy and never pout.

Momma cried when I told her that, so I'll also give you my plastic bat. My best friend Billy, who lives next door, bet me a quarter that if I went to the store I could find a new daddy just like mine. That's okay, God, the old one was just fine. Momma says we must be brave, and yesterday I saw Daddy's grave. Momma says he's up there with you. God, is this true? And if it is, can't you see I need him more down here with me? But that's okay because I know soon there will be a Christmas snow with lots of presents under the tree, and you and Daddy will be here with me.

Amen. by Katrina Edwards
