On Thursday, 4/16/2009, Henderson County Drug Enforcement Unit Investigators Ronny Halbert, Darrell Waller and David Faught responded to a private ranch south of Trinidad, Texas on FM 1667 in reference to a methamphetamine lab. Upon arrival Investigators spoke with Trinidad Police Chief D. Causey and C. Speaks who were on the scene and had Shun Cameron, W/M, 41 years of age and Cha Tidwell, W/M, 29 years of age, detained.
Trinidad Police Chief advised investigators the ranch owner arrived to his ranch and observed a small car parked in front of his gate and did not see anyone around the vehicle. The owner entered his ranch walking and observed two white male subjects on his property. As the owner approached the men they appeared to start fishing. The owner approached the men and advised them they were on private property. While the owner was speaking to the men he observed a pump-up sprayer, filters, buckets, and other items common to a methamphetamine lab. The owner also observed and collected a set of car keys on the ground near the lab. The owner walked the men off his property and contacted the Sheriff's Department and described what he had observed. Upon officers' arrival to the scene the two men were at their car trying to leave, but had no keys.
Investigators located a large quantity of methamphetamine as well as items that tested positive for the presence of ammonia and hydrochloric gas, both common to a methamphetamine lab.
