Bersano after BISD seat
Brian Bersano is a candidate for the Brownsboro Independent School District Board of Trustees in the May 9 election.
Bersano is the owner of Edge Medical Supply in Tyler. He and his wife, Kari, have lived in Chandler since 1998 and they have three children, Lauren in the fifth grade, Andrew in the third grade and Lindsey, who will begin school in the fall.
"There's no other job more important than educating our children," Bersano said. "It's an investment in our future. They are our future."
Bersano said his business deals with government accounting, specifically Medicare, and that has helped him prepare for challenges a school board could face.
"We had to learn to do more with less, and a school board is no different," he said.
Bersano said he believes the district is growing and the future board will need to plan for that. He said he believes the school district will need to address future facility needs, including campus improvements. He also said the board should provide the best environment for students.
"A good environment will lead to academic results," he said.
Bersano said he lives by an adage his father passed on to him, an adage he refers to as the five "P's."
"Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance." I've used that adage and it has served me very well," he said.
Bersano also said he understands that the school board represents the taxpayers and, as a taxpayer, he takes that very seriously. He said he believes the board needs to include parents and business owners who can help "propel the district into the future."
He also said parents and BISD administration, faculty and staff are passionate about the students.
"I want to serve our district," he said. "I want to serve our community."
