Calvin J.R. Luce

Chapel services for Calvin J.R. Luce, 74, of Chandler were held Friday, April 24, 2009 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Perry Smith officiating. Interment followed in Tyler Memorial Park under the direction of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Luce was born January 29, 1935 in Athens, Texas to the late Joseph Allen and Evelyn Bennett Luce and passed away April 21, 2009 in Chandler, Texas. He lived in the Tyler area all of his life, was a molder for Western Foundry then worked for McEvoy Oil Equipment for 17 years, served in the National Guard and was a member of Park Heights Baptist Church. He was a member of the Literary Council of Tyler.

Mr. Luce is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Luce. He is survived by a son and daughter-inlaw, Michael and Gaylelynne Luce of Chandler; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Michael Barrios of Flint and Tina and Ben Poole of Jacksonville; brothers, Billy Joe Luce of Tyler, R.C. Luce of Arp and J.C. Luce of Mineola; step-sister, Barbara Glasscock of Lindale; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chris Dryman, Benjamin Poole, Stephen Trimble, Aric Barrios, Jeremy Byrd and Kevin Byrd.
