Wilson runs for BISD seat

My name is Donny Wilson. I have lived in the Brownsboro Independent School District since 1990 (almost 20 years) and I am excited about the possibility of serving as a trustee for the Brownsboro ISD. If elected as a board member I would like, with the help of other board members, to improve our school system for our students, teachers, and taxpayers. There are several issues I would like to see addressed as a board member. First and foremost I would like to see our teachers' pay increased to compete with surrounding districts. This helps assure that we both keep and attract our best teachers.

Also, I feel that our facilities should be addressed. Many of the facilities need to be upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of an ever-changing student population.

By raising our teachers' pay and improving district facilities, we will increase both teacher and student morale. Ultimately, students' performance at all levels would be increased. Students will be prepared for their next level of education or vocation.

School finances are also a major issue. I will strive to provide the very best for our students while being financially responsible to the taxpayers by holding taxes at acceptable levels. If elected, I will keep an open mind to new programs and courses, such as choir and an expanded tennis program. I will always be willing to listen to students, parents, teachers, and the community on any issues that they would like to see addressed to make our schools even more successful.

As a manager for Peltier Enterprise (Chevrolet- Nissan) for 17 years I feel I have the necessary business experience to contribute to a progressive Brownsboro ISD. I have also coached baseball for 11 yeas in the BMC league in which I have enjoyed teaching my players not only baseball but also what it means to have good values and character on and off the field.

I have a son (Collin) who graduated from BHS, and two other sons (Tanner a 7th grader at Brownsboro Jr. High) and (Lexton, a 5th grader at Brownsboro Intermediate). My wife Sherri of 19 years is a mentor at Brownsboro Intermediate and also substitutes at Brownsboro Junior High.

I would like to end with a quote from Theodore Roosevelt. "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." I, Donny Wilson am willing to work hard and ask for your vote on May 9, 2009 so I along with other board members can make Brownsboro Independent School District the Very Best.
