St. Boniface Catholic
On the Fifth Sunday of Easter, members of St. Boniface Catholic Church honored the mothers in the Parish. The Gospel reading was from John, and Jesus announced that He was the vine and we are the branches.
In his homily, Fr. Luke explained that we receive strength, courage and grace from The Vine. Love is the fruit produced. Let love be not of word, but of deed and truth! The death of Jesus on the cross for us is our salvation. However, it is not enough to say you love Him, you must remain in Him by a connection to Him.
We are the mediator between God and our fellow man. By remaining in the Vine, we are able to produce the fruit of love. He prunes us because He loves us. We often times go through a painful `pruning process.' It is important to remain in Him - to reach out and connect and love our brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus. How? Through the Sacraments, the Sacred Word, and personal prayer.
Fr. Luke spoke of the Blessed Mother as our most influential Advocate! It is because of the sacrifice of our earthly mothers that we are what we are today. Our mothers deserve our utmost respect, gratitude and love. Before the final dismissal, Fr. Luke called the `Moms' to the front of the Altar and presented each with a medal of a guardian angel. He then gave a general prayer of thanks and gave each Mom present a special blessing.
Refreshments were served following Mass.
There has been a slight change in the weekday Mass schedule (effective immediately). Tuesday, Mass will be at 9 a.m. and Wednesday Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. This change will make it possible for those who attend Faith Formation to attend together.
The date has been changed for the next Parish Council meeting. It will be held on Thursday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m.
Jesus the Liberator - Passion Play DVDs are now available. Please see Danny Schroeder for additional information.
Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. May God bless you! We pray for the souls of the faithful departed. May they rest in the Peace of Christ. We continue to ask our heavenly Father to protect from all harm the men and women in the Armed Services.
May God bless you!
