Brownsboro teacher selected

A Brownsboro teacher has been selected to participate in "The U.S. Constitution and American History," a summer institute sponsored by Humanities Texas and The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Julie Wooten, who teaches Spanish, world history and U.S. history at Brownsboro High School, will attend the institute on the UTSA main campus in San Antonio from June 14-17.

Each institute will bring together 40 outstanding teachers from across Texas to participate in lectures and workshops that examine important constitutional topics in our nation's history.

The institute faculty includes leading scholars such as Steven R. Boyd, H.W. Brands,Joseph Cooper, George Forgie, John McCusker and John F. Reynolds.

"Humanities Texas is pleased to include a Brownsboro teacher in this educational initiative," said Executive Director Michael L. Gillette. "Bringing teachers together to exchange ideas and learn from leading scholars is an effective way to ensure that Texas students continue to receive the best possible educational opportunities."

"The U.S. Constitution and American History" is made possible with a We the People grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and additional support from the Houston Endowment.

The state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, Humanities Texas develops and supports diverse programs across the state, including lectures, oral history projects, teacher institutes, museum exhibitions and documentary films.
