BHS Class of 1997 reunion set

The Brownsboro High School Class of 1997 Reunion will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Villages Resort in Flint.

KBB meets Tuesday at center

Keep Brownsboro Beautiful will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Brownsboro Community Center.

The meeting will be open to the public and anyone who would like to contribute funds or time is encouraged to attend.

Watermelon eating contest set

The Chandler Brookshire 's will host a watermelon eating contest at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Chandler store at 703 Highway 31 E.

The "fastest" watermelon consumer will win a gourmet fish fry kit.

Free samples of watermelon ice cream will be available for children.

July Fourth celebration planned

A Fourth of July celebration is planned for Brownsboro.

The city's first Sparks in the Park will be Saturday, July 4, at Brownsboro Park.

Booth rental space will be available at a cost of $35 for a small booth and $50 for a large booth (no electricity will be available).

The deadline for booth rental is Tuesday, June 30. Booths will set up Friday, July 3.

Sparks in the Park, sponsored by the Keep Brownsboro Beautiful and Friends of the Park, will start at 10 a.m. with a parade with bicycles, strollers and walkers only.

A prize will be awarded to the "Most Patriotic Participant " in the parade. Bicycles or strollers may be decorated and someone walking may wear a costume to be eligible to win the prize.

Sparks in the Park also will feature a softball tournament, arts and crafts, door prizes, a concession stand, snow-cones and bounce houses.

To raise funds, KBB will sell Sparks in the Park Tshirts for $5 apiece, and will sell Brownsboro High School baseball memorabilia uniforms for $5 each.

Children will be able to play in the bounce houses for $5 for all day.

Lunch plates of a drink, chips and hamburger or barbecue sandwich will be available.
