Sparks will mark celebration
The Brownsboro Sparks in the Park will not feature fireworks this year, but the event will feature food, fun and more. Fireworks displays are scheduled in Henderson County, including at Edom. There is no burn ban in Henderson County, but state laws will be enforced regarding use of fireworks. Looking for a place to celebrate the Fourth of July?
A Fourth of July celebration, Sparks in the Park, is planned for Brownsboro.
A Kid's Parade will start activities at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, and set up at Brownsboro Elementary School will begin at 9 a.m.
The parade, which will feature walkers, bicycles and strollers only, will be from the staging area the Brownsboro Elementary School to the park.
A prize will be awarded to the "Most Patriotic Participant " in the parade. Bicycles or strollers may be decorated and someone walking may wear a costume to be eligible to win the prize.
Also, Southern Made will perform live music. The band, which performs country and rock music, includes Buddy Lindsey, lead guitar and singer; Felix Vasquez, drums; Dwight Doherty, bass; Bill Bruce, guitar; and Mark Wells, guitar. There is no admission fee
Sparks in the Park also will feature a softball tournament, arts and crafts, door prizes, a concession stand, snow-cones and bounce houses. Children will be able to play in the bounce houses for $5 for all day.
To raise funds, KBB will sell Sparks in the Park Tshirts for $5 apiece, and will sell old Brownsboro High School baseball memorabilia uniforms for $10 each.

Lunch plates of a drink, chips and hamburger or barbecue sandwich will be available.
Sparks in the Park, sponsored by the Keep Brownsboro Beautiful and Friends of the Park.
Sparks in the Park will end at 3 p.m.
There is no burn ban in Henderson County, so law enforcement officials will enforce state laws regarding use of fireworks. For example, fireworks may not be used from a moving vehicle or used within 600 feet of a hospital, church, school, etc. (For more information, call local law enforcement.)
Area fireworks displays will be at the following:
. Edom Community Park, 7 p.m. Saturday.
. Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, dusk.
