Myntti is newest cop on the beat in Brownsboro
Brownsboro Police Officer State Myntti is the newest officer on the force of four. Mynetti, who moved to East Texas from Central Florida, said he and his family enjoy the slower pace of life in Texas. Life in Central Florida is much different than East Texas.
That's one of the reasons why Scott Myntti and his family ended up in Brownsboro.
"It's a lot slower pace here," he said. "My wife and I like it here."
Born in Killeen, Myntti was raised near Kissimmee, Fla., home to Disney World. He and his family, which includes three children (two of whom attend Brownsboro schools), moved here three years ago when he started working for the Henderson County Sheriff's Office.
Myntti started work as a corrections officer in 1997, and later joined the sheriff's office. He also attended a law enforcement academy in Florida.
Nevertheless, when he started working in law enforcement in Texas, Myntti had to complete a 180-hour, online course and he had to pass the state law enforcement exam.
For Myntti, working in law enforcement was natural.
"It's something I wanted to do since high school. I like helping people and being part of the community," he said.
Myntti worked for the Henderson County Sheriff's Office for more than two years. About four weeks ago, he was hired as one of the police officers for Brownsboro.
"I had several applicants for the position," said Brownsboro Police Chief Ron Shields. "But I felt like Scott would be the best fit for Brownsboro."
Along with Shields and Myntti, the Brownsboro police force includes Sgt. Lonnie McKinney and Officer Danny Ford.
Myntti said he had an opportunity to work for the Athens Police Department, but, after discussing it with his wife, they decided Brownsboro would be a better choice.
"This is a great place to raise a family," he said.
Myntti said he wants to help the community in any way and be ready when he's called on.
Shields said it is not unusual for city officials to feel that was about the community.
"Brownsboro is special and has a special place in my heart," he said. "I think he'll do us a fine job."
