Chandler talks limiting ordinance to garage sale sign regulation
Members of the Chandler City Council held open discussions Tuesday, concerning the future regulation around garage sales within the city limits.
The general consensus?
Pass ordinance language aimed at eliminating the eyesores created by abandoned garage sale signs around the city.
"What we're looking for is a good garage sale sign ordinance, " said council member Gene Giger. "That's what I'm hearing here tonight."
And, after amicable input from a handful of area residents attending the open workshop, that seemed to be the directions they gave to City Manager Jim Moffeit - to cut down the originally proposed ordinance to portions from it's fourth section, with some slight re-wordings of language.
Garage sale signs would have to have an address on them, plus the dates of the sale, and those holding garage sales would be required to retrieve their signs from around town on the last day of the garage sale - or face fines of up to $50 per day afterward.
The Council will next meet in regular session on Tuesday, July 14.
