LAKE PALESTINE UMC
Quite a few church members participated in the 5-K Fun Run in August which benefited God's Open Hands.
While most of our members walked or ran, some decided to use their vehicles. That sounds like a great way to cover the miles.
A special congratulations goes to Don Howard who actually ran the race and got a medal for coming in first.
We want to thank Sarah Howard who filled in for Carla Fisher at the piano. Carla was on call with her job this weekend and couldn't be in church.
All of the children in the church were particularly excited about going to school.
They had all met their teachers and were eager to get started on their school work.
School doesn't mean the children's ministry is shutting down for the fall. Plenty of activities are planned.
The bear ministry is off and running. Already, some bears (intended for use by local fire departments and police for children they see who need them) have come in and more are needed.
Mary McGough has asked for prayer for a granddaughter who will be having surgery soon.
We hear that LeeAnn Boggs came through her surgery and is now receiving therapy.
We pray she will be back with us soon.
Susie Owen is experiencing hip pain and will be seeing a doctor this week.
Our prayers are also with Polly Dunklin and her family. Polly is a good friend of many here in the church and we were saddened to hear about her car accident.
Mary Ann Whisenhunt continues to improve from her back surgery.
Bob and June Hitt are enjoying their trip visiting relatives in Colorado and the Dakotas.
Congratulations to Rich Franko. He showed up on the news in Tyler last week.
