McCurley McCurley Have a dream of being a small business owner? Many do, and the Chandler- Brownsboro Area Chamber of Commerce and the Chandler Lions Club are proud to salute these men and women for their contributions to our communities.

The convenience of shopping close to home, often with friends and neighbors, provides opportunities to have personalized and timely reliable services and products.

The Chandler Lions proudly salute Stanley McCurley, owner and operator of Stan's Backhoe Service, Inc., as the grand marshal for this year's festivities.

McCurley has been a selfemployed business owner for approximately 40 years, and is a member of a multigenerational family in the Chandler area.

He manages his own general contracting business, serves or advises on numerous city committees, travels the world, loves country music, and keeps up with his extended family regularly.

One cannot mention a Chandler organization or community project that McCurley has not had a major role in bringing to fruition. His support of hu- manitarian activities is broad and he seeks no personal recognition for it.

The McCurley Brothers are Stanley, Don and David, all of whom live in the Chandler area. They grew up in "McCurley Town," now the general area from the north end of the Flat Creek Marina Bridge to Big Eddy Road on FM 315 South.

Planting cotton, snaking logs, working in timber and sawmills, and the teachings of his grandfather are fond memories of his childhood.

It was amazing to learn the McCurley family is connected to most of the longtime residents of the area. Stanley McCurley and his wife, Rita, have been married for 41years and have two sons and a daughter, Stan Lee, Scott, and Cindy Compton.

He said he is committed to making our area "the recognized destination between Smith County and the western part of East Texas."

McCurley served as a Little League founder and sponsor for many years, provided land for Winchester Park, built water wells for the city, provided general construction for large and small building projects in the area, and has a vision for the future: the Neches River Walk will rival that in San Antonio in time, bringing to the Chandler/ Brownsboro area recognition as a great place to visit and live.
