BROWNSBORO ISD
The Brownsboro Independent School District has scheduled a training seminar for Saturday, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Brownsboro Junior High School.
Three major issues will be covered by several speakers: child health, safety, and discipline.
Health: With the onslaught of swine flu and issues that affect the health of children, every parent could use quality information.
Dr. Tom Cherry of Trinity Mother Frances Clinic is scheduled to speak on the topic.
Safety: With the issues of child predators, the onslaught of cyber bullying, cyber stalking, and the aspects of crimes against children, it is evident every parent could use help and information about child safety.
Gary White has done ex- tensive research on child safety and he will share essential information during this segment of the seminar.
Discipline: Learning how to effectively discipline children is an important skill that all parents need to learn.
Discipline is not the same as punishment. Instead, discipline has to do more with training.
Teaching children right from wrong, how to respect the rights of others, which behaviors are acceptable and which are not, is the goal of helping to develop a child to feel secure and loved.
Brandon Russell and Ashley Lawrence of Community in Schools will speak.
Child-care will be available at the junior high gym.
