It was all business with President Carol Blakely presiding over the garden club meeting at Edom Bakery and Grill in September, marking the beginning of the club's eighth year.

New by-laws were presented. After some discussion and changes, they were passed.

We sadly had five members who have been with us from the beginning drop out because of health reasons, returning to work, and moving on to other things.

We will truly miss Nettie Jo McLean, Joyce Jordan, Murlene Wommack, Bobbie Sparks and Jannie Parker.

On Oct. 7, the club met in the home of Sara Taylor. Co-hostesses were Linda Owen and Lou Gossett. Sara's "garden friends" didn't come in costumes but her house was dressed for the occasion.

It was easy to see Halloween is around the corner.

Sara gave everyone a jar of her famous homemade Jalapeno jelly.

A short meeting was conducted to vote-in four new members: Dot Raney, Virginia Ashcroft, Shirley Hornbeck and Sue Potter.

"Yard of the Month" for November was awarded to Ashcroft.
