Resident questions school district's intent

I read with interest the recent story about Brownsboro schools running out of room due to increasing enrollment, and how the "tax rollback" election failed. My child attends school in Brownsboro, and I pay my taxes to BISD.

It is interesting to note that in this time of tough budgets, less money and not enough space, that on the BISD web page is an announcement saying "BISD is waiving transfer fees for incoming students. "

I wonder how much more room and money the district would have if it stopped providing free services to the childen of people who pay no taxes to our district?

If I want to send my child elsewhere, I have to pay fees and tuition since I do not live in that district. People who do not live in BISD but want to send their children here should have to pay the fees and tuition also.

Our school administration and board should not saddle those of us who live and pay taxes here with the expense of educating `transfer ' students by waiving the fees.

This errant policy needs to be done away with and our school administration needs to first consider the needs of those students and families who live in the Brownsboro school district.

I, for one, will vote against any bond or "rollback " as long as we are providing no fee transfers to outside students.

Why should we, the residents of BISD, vote to raise our taxes to pay for the education of `transfer' students?

To the administration and school board:

Stop the give-away at our expense, then re-evaluate, and if there is still a need then I am sure the community will support and fulfill that need.
