The Wildcats' seventh grade team did the same to the Bears that the Bears eighth grade team did to the Wildcats - score the first 22 points of the game.
A 54-yard run at the 4:05 mark of the first, and a 57- yard run as the first quarter expired, put Palestine up 16- 0. That was a lead the Wildcats expanded with a 33- yard run with 1:51 left in the first half.
But the Bears did mount a comeback.
Landon Mason caught a 30-yard scoring pass from quarterback Matt Bailey with 35 seconds to go in the first half to cut the deficit to 22-6.
Mason would catch another Bailey touchdown pass, this one in the fourth quarter, and Cody Renfro caught a 2-point conversion pass as the Bears pulled within 22-14 with 6:50 left in the game.
But the Bears last offensive possession was stopped by interception at the Palestine 13-yard line. After the Wildcats lost 12 yards on two plays, a kneel down by the quarterback resulted in a safety for Brownsboro as time ran out.
