Chandler's holiday event to feature craft booths
Participants and others gather for Chandler's Holiday in the Park in 2008. This year's event is set for Nov. 21.
CHANDLER - For the first time in three years, Holiday in the Park will feature craft booths, city secretary Shirley Parmer said.
"We want to see if we can get more people out for this. We have a gospel singing, and people bring their lawn chairs and blankets. It's always chilly, but it's nice."
The event, which benefits Keep Chandler Beautiful, is scheduled for Nov. 21 at Winchester Park.
"We had 400 to 500 people last year," Parmer said. "We'll start decorating the park around the 16th, and the decorations will stay until after Christmas. We just do a lot of community things here."
Several churches are scheduled to sing, and children + from Chandler Elementary School are expected to perform. Concession stands will offer hot chocolate, coffee, homemade chili, Frito pie, and hot dogs.

"Where we make our money is on the concession stands," Parmer said.
The city is also selling raffle tickets for a Four Seasons fryer, steamer and boiler, and a Thanksgiving turkey dinner from Brookshire's.
Booths must be rented by Nov. 19.
The event is set to start at 5:30 p.m., with booths opening a half-hour earlier.
